The local people of Moto Le’e asked Christian College if they could provide their community with a school. The result was a joint project between Lions and the College Community at a cost of $US45,000 which resulted in the building of a new school 15 Km south of Viqueque.
The opening ceremony and celebration on 8 July was a wonderful event. Christian College was represented by a large group including College prefects. CEO Daryl Riddle made the formal address, the College Captain unveiled the flags of Australia and East Timor, and Chris Maddock and Colin Pearson both members of Geelong Friends of Viqueque and great supporters of East Timor cut the ribbon on the classroom door. Needless to say the local community was thrilled to have its own school.
