The City of Greater Geelong is once again hosting the commemoration of Timor Leste’s Independence on Friday 22 May. Students from many Geelong schools are invited to attend and a special program hosted by the City of Greater Geelong and co-ordinated by the Geelong-Viqueque Friendship Schools has been planned for the day. The highlight will be a presentation from students from Sacred Heart College, Geelong, who visited Timor Leste earlier in the year will be speaking about their experiences.
The student session will commence at 10:30 which will be followed by speeches and a flag raising ceremony. The guest speaker this year will be the President of the Alola Foundation, Maree Bohan. Schools wishing to attend should contact Steve Levakis at the COGG for an invitation.
